Glock Magazine Bag

by Retro-Tactical on July 30, 2010

One of my favorite guns is my Kel-tec Sub2000 in Glock 17/9mm. I love this little gun, its great to shoot and the folding capability makes it ideal for back packing or as an easily concealed truck gun. I have been toying with the idea for some time now, for some sort of chest rig, or ammo bag that can carry magazines for this little carbine.

Some time ago I put together a small rig for the GSG-5. Its a small bag that has a number of strap configurations and can carry 8 GSG-5 magazines, I was sitting in my workshop the other day, looking at one of these bags, and realized that with a few modifications, this would carry 8 of the Glock 33 round magazines, so off to work I went.

Here is the result. I am still working on the tabs to hold the magazines in place – because of the shape of the mag, the current tab design slides off, so a larger tab is required. I am also looking at loosing the MOLLE webbing on the front and changing the construction of the bag slightly, to give a better, neater finish.

Notice the clips holding the straps to the bag.

Shoulder bag configuration, with waist strap for stability

They clip to ‘D’ rings on the bag, and by using the clips, one can reconfigure those straps just so, and one has a shoulder bag with optional waist strap for stability.

I like this design so far, but there are a couple of design aspects that perhaps I should look at:

The first is that the bag doesn’t work with 17 round Glock magazines and perhaps it should. The issue there is the pocket that the mag sits in is taller than the G17 mag. I can make the bag (and thus the pocket) shorter, but I’m not sure what that will do to the stability of the bag when loaded with 33 round mags – will it flop about too much?

The second issue is that of the bag structure itself. The bottom needs a little reinforcement to stop the bowing that happens when mags a pushed down by the shock cord and tabs. I don’t necessarily need to eliminate the bowing, but I do need to limit it a little.

Hi!

Nice chest rig! Could you make one for me?
If so, how much do you want for it?
